Genesis 48 (Passing on the Promise)

Jul 19, 2026    Dr. Stuart Guthrie

This week on Getting in the Word, we continue our journey through Genesis with a message from Genesis 48 entitled, Passing on the Promise.

As Jacob nears the end of his life, he gathers Joseph and his grandsons for one final act of faith. What appears to be a simple family blessing becomes a powerful declaration of God's covenant faithfulness, the transfer of the birthright, and the assurance that God's promises will continue long after Jacob is gone.

In this message, we'll discover how God faithfully carries His redemptive plan from one generation to the next, why Jacob's blessing of Ephraim and Manasseh is so significant, and what it means for believers today to leave behind a legacy that is greater than wealth or possessions—a legacy of faith in the God who always keeps His promises.

Join us as we see that while our lives are temporary, God's promises are eternal, and every believer has the privilege of faithfully passing on the promise to the next generation.
